When you are standing at a trailhead and looking up towards your destination there are  three rules you need to keep in mind. Its always further than it looks, its always taller than it looks and its always harder than it looks. To summit will be an accomplishment, an accomplishment deserving of reward. 

 

With those three rules in mind it doesn't make sense to add unnecessary weight to your pack by filling it with beer. You will only be adding to the hardships of the journey. What you need is a flask. But again, lets be honest with ourselves, the last thing you are going to want after hours on the trail, having logged miles in your boots through whatever conditions Mother Nature decided throw at you that day is a slightly above room temperature shot of whiskey.
