CampTails and Why We Love It

There are three ingredients needed to create a magical experience in the outdoors.

The first ingredient: Weather

There is no better way to ruin a backpacking trip, ski day or a bike ride around town than getting skunked by Mother Nature’s fickle presence. She comes out of nowhere screaming like a banshee determined to show you that this adventure is now officially Type 3 fun. But when she’s in a good mood- the sun comes out, that “wintry mix” turns into fat flakes, or the gale-force wind turns into a cool breeze- your brain can just barely handle the barrage of firing synapses.

The second ingredient: People.

We all have that friend. The overpacker, who has to stop every ten minutes to relieve themselves of another useless item, whether it’s a beard trimmer or an inflatable life vest. The hungry one, who has the metabolism of a ten year old bodybuilder. Or the Strava sl*t, hunting for that next KOM. But when you get a group of people who are well-prepared and grateful they were able to get out of the city for the weekend, you can make lifelong friends overnight.

The problem with the first two ingredients is that you cannot control them. You certainly can’t control the weather, and if you spend enough time in the outdoors you are going to travel with strangers.

Fortunately for all of us, we do have complete control of the third ingredient: LIBATIONS

The easiest way to turn a frown upside down is sharing an adult beverage at the terminus. Twisted your ankle on the hike down? Here, have a beer. Can’t feel your toes in this arctic tundra? Have some whiskey, my friend.

Our goal at CampTails is to help you achieve that magical experience in the outdoors. We can’t promise you good weather or good friends, but we promise that our refreshing cocktail mixes will be a treat for your palate and a conversation starter around the campfire. We love CampTails because it’s lighter than packing beer (we do love beer), and it’s tastier than drinking straight liquor. We love CampTails because it’s a cheap and easy addition to your camping starter pack.
